"He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him." ~ Jesus (Jn12:25-26)

I have known" Christians" who answered an altar call when they were young but love their life in this world and don't want to go Home...will do anything to stay here...claim to love Jesus but aren't anxious to run into His arms... 🥺

I think that's a result of understandable, but serious, mis-communication. The Church needs to do a better job of explaining how those things young people genuinely and authentically *love* about this world will reach their greatest--and eternal!--expression in Christ's kingdom. And being eternal, they will lose the pang of sadness we all have here, over the decay, the falling apart, the vicissitude of things we cherish and try to hold on to here...even, or especially, when they become grotesque. Christianity is offering the young people the best deal ever.

@malanrich I'm thinking this through. Agree with the parts I understand. Sometimes takes me a minute. Totally with you on the last statement!

@ChiaChatter Don’t worry. My posts are often my trying to get my own thoughts in order. My point was a rehash of a CS Lewis comment about heaven giving us the *best* and eternal form of what we tried to hold on to here as it decayed and slipped through our fingers.

@malanrich I can see why I was confused then, not being familiar with that quote 😏 but that is something new that I will learn about now 😊
