♲ A young black father was listening to music in his own garage.

A white woman called the cops because the music was "too loud."

Cops showed up and killed him.

The jury awarded the family $4.

Yes, $4.

I ate a clock yesterday. It was very time-consuming.

How does God work through you?

One of the biggest things I'm finding hard at the moment is the temptation to talk *about* God, as if He isn't involved in our lives. To say things like, "(child) was sick last night and we prayed and (child) was better this morning even though the Dr said it would take at least several days" ... Not something like "We prayed and God mercifully healed (child) overnight". How do you fight this? I am finding it insidious because how we talk affects how we think, and by sidelining God like this we are training ourselves to think as though God isn't an active person, just a character in a book we speculate about; or to talk as though He might not exist even though we know full well He does

Attempting to repurpose recycling as mini greenhouses has been mixed, but I would call this batch of coriander (growing in a strawberry punnet) a success 😊🌱

"A person's a person no matter how small." This has to be one of my favourite pro life things ever

AI Weekly: In China, you can no longer buy a smartphone without a face scan

China will soon require that phone customers submit to a facial recognition scan to verify their identity. It's a drastic expansion of an existing policy.

No matter which social network you're on, following a diverse group of people helps you taking a peek at the other side of your personal filter bubble.

You don't have to agree with everything and everyone, but please, at least try to listen to people and their opinions.

It will help you appreciate your own life, and may just make you a little wiser.

Let the message about Christ in all it's richness, fill your lives. Colossians 3.16

When the well’s dry, we know the worth of water. ~ Benjamin Franklin

Matt Ridley is the Rational Optimist. I don't agree with his worldview - i
think he's humanist, not Christian - but his arguments, and his assessment of mankind is based in data; and he's not afraid to ask hard questions and look at what is actually going on. This is him discussing why fossil fuels are actually resulting in the planet getting **greener**! It's worth a watch as food for thought.

I'm second-guessing the choice for Spinster to try to curate the Fediverse tab at all.

Right now we are holding all Fediverse users to the same standards as Spinstes users, but:

1. What good does it solve to block some remote users? It may just prevent Spinster users from being offended, which in itself is not a great reason.
2. Users here already know they can block entire Fediverse servers they don't like, or can just avoid the Fediverse tab entirely.
3. I think there's value in letting Spinster users respond to people who say obscene things. Those future-school-shooters could probably use talking to a normal person.
4. Some Spinster users want to have conversations with remote users who break our rules.

The real problem we solve by blocking remote users is to prevent harassment. That's a legitimate use-case. But I question blocking remote users just because they say obscene things. It's almost impossible to police anyway.

I do think Spinster itself should be held to a higher standard so other servers who federate with us know what to expect. For remote servers, maybe we should just leave them alone. Any thoughts?

They won't see this, but to all the counter protesters who are fighting to keep late term (post 24 weeks) abortion- on healthy babies - legal: your life is valuable and I'm glad your parents let you live.

I'm at March for the Babies in Melbourne, Australia. There's about 800 pro-lifers from many different groups - Catholic protestants and secular - and 100 screaming communists but news headline will be, "women's rights activists clash with small group of Catholics"

Love your neighbor

Romans 13:9 The commandments, “Do not commit adultery; do not commit murder; do not steal; do not desire what belongs to someone else”—all these, and any others besides, are summed up in the one command, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” (GNT)

Since about 2003 i have been wondering why highschoolers still have paper textbooks, and not a hardback folder with a nice lighweight iPad inside each cover. Dual screen iPad so you can flick between pages in double screen reading mode, or have reference on one side and writing/worksheet on the other side...
