@templebaptist I wouldn't venture to guess. I think what he wrote wasn't nearly as important as why. It had the effect of diffusing the situation and drawing the attention of all around him, preparing them to listen and be taught.


John 7:53-8:11 is one of two passages appearing in modern Bibles with questionable authenticity. That is, it was likely not written by John, and doesn't belong in the Bible. Most of us Christians don't know about this. That being said, if Jesus *did* write something in the sand, the authors did not try to include it in their Bibles, and God has given us evidence discrediting the canonicity of this passage.
